5 Stress-Free Habits to Help You Save on Cash

Scrolling through social media can make you feel broke in the blink of an eye. Aside from all the hilarious memes and thought-provoking quotes, all that’s left is a constant feed of people showing off the good life. Who can blame you if you get a little intimidated by the nonstop sports cars, vacation selfies, high-end jewelry, and money-phones? Don’t let your eyes deceive you though. Regardless of the opulence on display all over the internet, most of the people you see are actually struggling with money. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the majority of adults in the U.S. – an average of 80% across all age groups – live in debt. That basically means that even though it’s easy to look like a billionaire on the internet, the reality is that everybody under the sun could do with a little extra cash to get by.

Here are seven quick life hacks on how to streamline your finances by cutting costs:

  1. Make your Own Food – Restaurant food might be delicious, but it also costs an arm and a leg. Homemade food is healthier and cheaper.
  2. Stop Trend-Setting – Constantly upgrading your fashion, electronics, cars and so on just to keep up with fads can drain you of cash. Only change your property after you’ve exhausted it.
  3. Read your Bank Statements – Sometimes a quick glance at your bank balances can provide a much-needed wake-up call. Thoroughly read all of your account statements at least once every three months.
  4. Switch Off – Don’t leave electronic devices and appliances running if they aren’t in use. Switch off every light bulb and every device that uses electricity on your way out of a room.
  5. Say Yes to Rewards – Store rewards programs can offer incredible discounts if you’re willing to take advantage of them. If you shop somewhere frequently, say yes the next time they offer you a rewards card.
  6. Use Shopping Lists – Trying to guess what you need every time you go shopping always results in forgetfulness. If you write down a shopping list before actually shopping, it will save you time and money.
  7. Be a Homebody – As much fun as it is to hit the club every week, partying up can start to seriously add up if you aren’t careful. Spend the weekend at home every now and then to give your bank account a break.

The path to success and financial freedom is all about understanding how to be efficient with your resources. If you want to build wealth over time, concentrate on both your income and expenses. Anything you can do to ensure you spend less than you make will ultimately help you generate valuable savings. In turn, the more you save, the more prepared you’ll be in the event of emergencies or investment opportunities. 3 Smart Strategies to Stay Active in Life

When you stop to think about it, it’s incredible to witness the changes that technology introduces to our lives. Thanks to apps, computers, machines, and appliances, people barely have to lift a finger in order to get things done. This convenience comes in very handy, but it also comes at a high price. The world is getting dangerously lazy over time, and the fewer people have to exert themselves in order to complete routine tasks, the more we slip into sedentary lifestyles.

What is a Sedentary Lifestyle?

A sedentary lifestyle is a medical term used to describe a daily routine which involves little or no physical activity. If you spend the majority of your time each day seated or standing still, you are ! living a sedentary lifestyle. Neglecting physical activity might seem trivial, but it actually has serious health consequences in the long run. A sedentary lifestyle increases the chances of succumbing to stress and chronic diseases by slowing down metabolism and constricting the physical range of motion.

Here are a few quick tips on how to prevent sedentary habits from taking over and destroying your life:

  1. Stay Organized – Living or working in cluttered environments has a negative psychological impact on motivation. Not only does clutter obstruct movement, but it also induces gloominess and depression. The more you take pride in your surroundings by keeping your environment clean, the likelier you will take pride in your body by keeping! it healthy.
  2. Go the Extra Mile – One of the easiest life hacks on how to get some activity into your routine is to force yourself into walking. For example, take the stairs instead of using an elevator, or park your vehicle far away from entrances when shopping. Sometimes, the quickest way from Point A to Point B isn’t necessarily the healthiest.
  3. Multitask – Whenever you’re doing mundane activities throughout the day, try and figure out if there’s a way to kill two birds with one stone. For example, do some chores like ironing whenever you! watch TV, or always dance whenever good music plays on the radio. Multitasking can be a great way to keep active without even thinking about it.

Living a healthy lifestyle has nothing to do with your circumstances in the present. It’s all about making sure that the older you get, the less you have to struggle with doing things that should be second-nature. That’s precisely why every little effort to exercise counts. No matter how much work it takes, try as much as you can not to slip into a sedentary lifestyle. You’ll definitely thank yourself when you’re old and gray. 5 Bad Habits that Make People Feel Older

Aging is an inevitable part of life. At someone or another, every person simply has to accept the fact that hair goes grey, wrinkles form, and it gets a little harder with each passing day to be active or energized. Just because aging is inescapable however doesn’t mean everybody ages in the same way. Lifestyle actually has a big impact on how quickly people grow old. On one hand, a healthy and holistic lifestyle prolongs youth, whereas, on the other hand, unhealthy lifestyle fatigues the body and causes premature symptoms of aging. If you happen to feel constantly tired or frustrated doing basic daily tasks, chances are you’re leading a lifestyle which is overwhelming your body.

Here are some common harmful behaviors that typically turn people into senior citizens long before they even hit 60:

  1. Smoking – Smoking causes numerous problems beyond cancer. It also causes sagging skin and wrinkles around the mouth elicited by repetitive puckering.
  2. Washing Your Face Excessively – Washing your face more than twice a day dissolves natural oils from the skin and cause it to develop wrinkles due to dryness.
  3. Eating Junk Food – Fatty foods contribute to obesity and obesity deteriorates physical fitness rapidly. The more overweight a person is, the faster bone and joint strength diminish.
  4. Stressing – Being in a bad mood doesn’t just feel bad, it releases hormones and toxins in the body which cause symptoms of pain and discomfort.
  5. Sleep Deficits – Being a night owl might help you get things done during the day, but going without plenty of sleep over time slows down alertness.

Regardless of what age you are at this very moment, it’s important to consistently make healthy lifestyle choices and take good care of your body. Life can get so hectic that it often feels like there’s no harm in pushing the limits just to take care of business. But if you keep overexerting yourself, all the harmful sacrifices you make here and there will eventually take their toll. You only have one life, and one body. Protect and take care of it, and it will protect and take care of you – a decade after decade. 5 Easy Ways to Keep the Eye of the Tiger

Whether or not you’re a big fan of golf, chances are you’ve seen recent headlines of an astonishing Tiger Woods win. On April 14, 2019, Tiger Woods secured a fifth Master’s Tournament victory, and a 15th major title in the process. This win didn’t just add to his legacy of success, it represented a comeback from years of dormancy and setbacks. Prior to donning a fifth Green Jacket, Woods had basically been publicly written off as a failure in light of embarrassing personal scandals and career-threatening injuries. Nonetheless, through sheer determination and intrepid power of will, Woods has once again risen to the top of Golf’s leaderboard at the age of 43. He has overcome adversity to prove that his success story is far from over.

It’s Never a Cake Walk

If there’s anything to be learned from Woods’ historic victory, it’s simply that perseverance pays off. This is a platitude which most people have probably heard ad nauseam, but the truth behind it can’t possibly be exaggerated. No human being born into this world will ever experience a life that is completely free of challenges. Tragedy strikes anyone, at any time. The difference between winning and losing in life boils down to how well you learn from mistakes and how you react to difficult circumstances. Once you realize that you have the power and ability to adapt and survive in any situation, life’s problems stop being dead-ends and they turn into speedbumps.

Here are a few tips on how to get past challenging problems and setbacks:

  1. Keep your eye on the Prize – The worst thing that can happen to someone dealing with tribulation is losing sight of the big picture. Whenever something threatens your progress, concentrate on the ultimate goal you’re trying to accomplish. This helps eliminate temporary or meaningless distractions.
  2. Believe in Yourself – Where there’s a will there’s a way. That being said, if your will to succeed is weak, your execution will falter and collapse. Have some faith both in the goal you’re trying to accomplish, and the fact that you are capable of reaching that goal. You are the only one who can truly motivate yourself to accomplish big things.
  3. Don’t Panic – Allowing yourself to get thrown off-balance by unexpected situations leads to poor judgment and misguided decision-making. The fresher a problem is, the more important it is to keep your wits about you in order to make purposeful decisions. Stay calm – especially when the sky is falling.
  4. Tune out the Noise – Sometimes, life’s problems are accompanied by a chorus of critics. Naysayers and haters won’t hesitate to discourage you and undermine your efforts. Ignore them. The more credence you give to people who don’t understand your truth, the faster you sabotage the chances of your own success.
  5. Keep Improving – Life’s problems always create an opportunity to learn from mistakes and build on experience. Never allow a difficult situation to pass by without asking yourself what you should have learned, or if you are equipped to withstand a similar problem in the future. If a difficult challenge doesn’t kill you, do everything in your power to emerge sharper and stronger for having survived it.

Whenever people go through hard times, it seems ridiculous to imagine that the tables could ever turn. Life is not static however, It’s dynamic. Whether good or bad, everything about the human experience transpires in seasons and cycles. If you allow yourself to be patient and keep trying, the gargantuan challenges you face today will fade into minuscule ancient memories as you take a long-awaited victory lap. So, no matter what! , never give up. Perseverance pays. If you like what you just read from our blog, you’ll love the various informative workshops and events listed on our website and social media. 5 Smart Tips on How to Ace Your Spring Cleaning this Year

Did you know that winter is the most sedentary season of the year? Between winding down for December holidays and coping with severe cold weather, people naturally tend to avoid exerting themselves in the winter. Unfortunately, the fewer incentive people have to be active, the likelier they begin to neglect their surroundings by allowing untidiness to build up. This is why spring cleaning is a popular cultural norm. By the time winter elapses, it’s hard not to notice all the dust, clutter, and debris getting in the way aro! und the house.

If you’re ready to reset and get some spring cleaning done, here are a few tips and life hacks on how to clean like a pro:

  1. Get Fresh Cleaning Supplies – If you’ve been using the same brooms, mops, brushes, and rags for months, toss them out and invest in some fresh supplies. Germs incubate in worn or old equipment.
  2. Plan your Projects – Don’t just start cleaning without a rough idea of how much time you have or how ambitious your spring cleaning tasks will be. There’s nothing more discouraging than starting to clean and giving up half-way.
  3. Focus on Heavily Used Rooms – Spring cleaning is the perfect opportunity to scrub down two of the most important rooms in any home; the kitchen and the bathroom. Use most of your effort on these essential rooms first.
  4. Don’t forget the A/C – Any and all ventilation systems rely on filters to supply clean circulated air. Investigate every component of your home and vehicles which could need annual replacement filters, and switch them all out at the same time.
  5. Have Fun With It – Cleaning the house isn’t rocket science or surgery. If you’re going to spend hours on end on such an elaborate task, make a fast-paced playlist beforehand and jam to it as you work. Playing good music helps the time fly by and you’ll be done before you know it.

Spring cleaning and tidiness, in general, aren’t just some cliché routines. Cleanliness is an essential component of healthy living. Living in hygienic and orderly surroundings not only reduces the chances of contracting illness, but it also boosts psychological wellbeing. Even if you can’t dedicate a ton of effort towards cleaning, try to do a little spring cleaning both in your home and at your place of work. This will help you to take on the rest of the year with energy and optimism. How to Use 911 the Right Way in Emergency Situations

Everybody knows that if you ever find yourself in an emergency, one of the easiest ways to get help is dialing 911. However, did you know that dialing the 911 Emergency Number can result in serious consequences if it’s used to report false emergencies? In California for example, misuse of the 911 emergency number constitutes a misdemeanor crime. If you ever contemplate dialing 911 because you happen to be in a crisis, it’s important to assess whether the situation at hand is an emergency that actually requires the assistance of emergency services.

When to Call 911

911 should only be used for legitimate emergencies. This means that in order to dial 911, the crisis at hand should either be a life-threatening problem, a crime in progress, or a serious crime that has just occurred. These are examples of emergencies when 911 should be used:

  • Fire
  • Armed robbery to person, residence or business.
  • Assault with a weapon.
  • In-progress burglary to a residence or business.
  • Life-threatening medical emergencies such as; difficulty breathing, chest pains, etc.
  • Physical altercations.
  • Missing children.
  • Traffic accidents where injuries are known or suspected.
  • Airplane/train crashes.
  • Any crime where a culprit is still at the scene or has just fled.

What to Do When You Call 911

  1. Dial 9-1-1: Dial 9, then 1, then 1 again
  2. State Your Emergency & Need: Tell the dispatcher what you need and/or what the emergency is, for example; “I need an ambulance/fire truck/police officer; there’s a burglary in progress/there’s been a car accident/ someone is having a heart attack, etc.”
  3. Give Your Name & Address: Pay attention to your location. If your address is different from the location of the! crime, be sure to let the dispatcher know. Dispatchers will verify your address and telephone to ensure that the telephone company address that is sent with the call is current and accurate. People living in mobile home parks, condominiums or on private roads, often have addresses that differ from the telephone company street.
  4. Offer Additional Descriptive Info: If possible, provide additional information to the dispatcher, such as suspect description, vehicle description, etc.
  5. Be Calm: When a caller is upset or hysterical, it’s difficult to understand what they are saying or to get vital information quickly.
  6. Don’t Hang Up, Stay on the phone until told Otherwise: Do not hang up unless told to by the dispatcher.

Remember, the questions that dispatchers ask when people dial 911 are critical. These questions determine what kind of assistance will be sent to the scene, so as much as possible, stay calm enough to be articulate with the information you share. And remember, once you’ve dialed 911 in an emergency situation, don’t hang up until the dispatcher is satisfied enough to release the call. 4 Habits to Find Happiness through Good Mental Health

When it comes to leading a healthy lifestyle, chances are you’ve heard everything under the sun about working out and a good diet. Granted these two habits are important components of good health, mental wellness is also something people should pay attention to in order to truly achieve holistic good health. Much like eating healthy and working out, maintaining good mental health is also a discipline that requires effort and commitment. The more a person neglects their state of mind, the more vulnerable they become to the side effects of stress and fatigue. Here are a few tips on how to enrich your life through good mental health:

  1. Rest – The easiest way to breakdown from fatigue is through overexertion. No matter what type of work you do, make sure to get good sleep and set some time apart to relax. This allows the mind to refresh.
  2. Meditate – Whether it’s through prayer, or silent reflection, set time apart frequently to stop and think about life. Allow your mind to exist without calculating, analyzing or internalizing new information. This makes it easier to think positive.
  3. Cheer for Yourself- For every negative thing you think about yourself, say three positive affirmations to cancel out the effects of self-deprecation. If you criticize yourself all the time, you will reinforce a negative self-image that becomes exaggerated over time.
  4. Do Something You Enjoy – People spend so much time living up to others’ expectations that we often forget what it feels like to be authentic. Take time to practice a favorite hobby, or indulge in a favorite pastime. This will help you appreciate the merits of your own tastes and opinions.

Being in a state of good mental health means being at peace with oneself and the world around you. It means finding a sense of balance that allows you to exercise good judgment, and cope with the uncertainty of life. No matter how invincible you might feel in the moment, always make it a habit to take care of your mental state. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain from being healthy. If you like what you just read from our blog, you’ll love the various informative workshops and events listed on our website and social media. Whether you’re interested in personal development, or overall improvement of your business, give us a call at 1 (888) 823-7757 to find out how The RISE Programs Academy for Business Coaching and Leadership Training can help you break past your daily struggles and start soaring in success.

Cancel that Cold with a Quick Carrot Soup

One of the most aggravating things about winter is watching the flu claim one helpless victim after the next.
Most people are used to fighting the flu with medication and supplements, but did you know that diet also plays an instrumental role in boosting the immune system?
Antioxidant ingredients and foods with anti-inflammatory properties naturally reinforce your body’s resistance to the flu without having to consume concentrated nutrients.
This is why eating a vitamin-rich diet is good for you. Here’s an easy soup recipe that can help your body stay strong and energized to fight against those pesky sniffles:

Ingredients (Makes 8 Servings)

  • ¼ Cup of Lemon Juice
  • ½ Teaspoon of Black Pepper
  • ½ Teaspoon Ground Turmeric
  • 1 Avocado
  • 1 Carrot
  • 1 Cup of Fresh Parsley
  • 1 lb. of Baby Spinach
  • 1 Teaspoon of Peeled and Sliced Ginger
  • 2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons of Soy Sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons of Fresh Oregano Leaf
  • 4 Cups of Broccoli Florets
  • 4 Cups of Swiss Chard
  • 4 Scallions
  • 6 Cups of Chicken Stock
  • 8 Cloves of Minced Garlic
  • Enough Pumpkin Seeds for Garnish
  • Salt, to Taste

Instructions:

  1. Chop the scallions.
  2. Peel and grate the entire carrot.
  3. Peel and dice! the Avocado.
  4. Toast the Pumpkin Seeds.
  5. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the garlic, ginger, and scallions. Sauté for about 3 minutes, until very fragrant but not browned.
  6. Add the oregano, parsley, turmeric, black pepper, carrot and soy sauce. Cook for 2 minutes, until the herbs begin to wilt.
  7. Add the broccoli and cook until bright green and beginning to release some moisture, about 5 minutes.
  8. Add the chicken stock. Cover, reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 10 minutes until the broccoli starts to soften.
  9. Add the Swiss chard and stir until wilted, about 30 seconds. Add the baby spinach, a few handfuls at a time. Cook until just wilted and stir to incorporate into the soup before adding more. Once the spinach is wilted and the broccoli stems can be easily pierced with a fork, remove the soup from the heat. It is important not to overcook the greens, as they will begin to lose their vibrant color and nutrients.
  10. Cool the soup for 15 minutes, until it can be safely transferred to a high-speed blender. With a standing blender or immersion blender, puree the soup briefly to combine, then ad! d the avocado, and salt. Blend until creamy, with no lumps remaining.
