“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord,” (Romans 8:38-39).
God loves you. It sounds cliché doesn’t it? It’s a phrase that people say so often it seems to fade into the background whenever we hear it. But it’s important to listen. It’s important to pay attention and recognize how profound and relevant these three words actually are. God loves you. In all of His wisdom. In all of His might. The God who ignited the sun, and filled the oceans. The very God who forged this universe into existence with the mere sound of His voice. He knows you, and yes, He loves you.
You’d better Believe It:
It’s intimidating sometimes to imagine that this could be true. After all, humanity is flawed. How could God possibly love us when our lives are so full of sin and turmoil? The answer is simple. God’s love is not something to be earned. It is a gift. It’s a gift He has chosen to give us fully and freely, purely because we are His divine creation. It is a gift He has chosen to give us fully and freely, in spite of our shortcomings. God may have spoken the world into existence, but He took the time to form us from clay with His bare hands. God didn’t just create humanity, He made us in His own image and blessed us with purpose. Scripture says He called us to “be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth,” (Gen! esis 1:28).
God doesn’t regard you as some broken person. There’s nothing disgraceful about you in His sight. On the contrary, you are His masterpiece. You are the crown-jewel of all His extraordinary creation. Scars, regrets, and all. This is why His love for you is unconditional. This is why there is nothing you could possibly do, and there is no circumstance so horrible, that you could ever be separated or cut off from His love. No matter what you may be going through, remember this promise and know that God will never abandon or reject you. Be bold in your faith. Be confident in your prayer. Take hope in the fact that God’s love for you is unbreakable, and choose to love The Lord in equal measure. Having a successful walk with God isn’t about being picture-perfect. It’s about understanding that even when you make mistakes or go through difficult times, God still loves you. If you can choose! to love Him in kind, throughout the good and the bad, you will find inner peace and fullness of joy. For “all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose,” (Romans 8:28).
